Tonka Classics Dump Truck and Cement Mixer

I ordered this online and had it directly sent to my nephew in another state for Christmas so I never actually got to see it. I was Skyping with my sis in law and she said that when the box came it was 4.5 feet tall and heavy. Then she showed me the trucks and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that they are full sized, steel trucks. I thought they were going to be small ones. Turns out it was an awesome gift and that made me very happy. I can't believe those two trucks, the hard hat and the shovels were only $20. Incredible deal! I went back to walmart.com immediately to order another for my son and they didn't have they anymore. Tonka is so popular that walmart.com rarely has any of it in stock. I'm really hoping that they do get them again and I will buy it again as soon as they do.

These tonka trucks are large, rugged and great for tough outdoor play. Both the cement truck and dump truck are made of metal and plastic. The bed on the dump truck is metal and actually tilts way, way back unlike some others that don't tilt far enough back to empty the load. The cement truck has a little hand crank that you can use to mix "cement" (whatever combination of dirt, rocks, etc, you decide to fill it with). When you crank it in the opposite direction it pours the cement out the back and down the chute, which can be moved back and forth to direct the cement where you want it. The hard hat that comes with it is actually quite sturdy and is adjustable in size. The sand toys--a rake, shovel, and sifter--are decent quality and a nice bonus. Endless fun for my 2 1/2 year old and probably the best Tonka value out there. The cost of this package is about the same that you will pay for just one individual truck elsewhere.

"Santa" brought these for my three and half year old son. The box was huge, much taller than him, which he thought was amazing. The trucks themselves are very big. They are made of real metal so they seem very durable. The dump truck really dumps and the mixer barrel turns and my son loves to put things in side it and watch them fall out down the chute. I think these can be outside toys but for now they live in our house. These are the new favorite toy in my house. My son couldn't be happier with them. I even sent them to a friend for her son and he loves them too!

This dump/cement truck combo is almost identical to the Tonka trucks that I had as a kid during the late 70's and early 80's. I think only the stickers are changed. They are the tough ones. We used to ride them down the driveway and stand on them and this set would hold up to the same. The cement truck would be better replaced with the old loader as it's so similar to the more fun dump truck but both are tough and should hold up to whatever gets thrown at them. Note, there is metal and edges in these. If you raise your kids in a bubble then please pass on this set so that kids who can use them outside where they belong can get them. Young kids, especially boys, will delight in these trucks for years. Not hours, days, or weeks. Years.

This was a great product for the price, these trucks are a lot bigger than they look and also of very good quality. We bought them for our grandson and he loves them. I know these trucks will last for years.
