Bought this for a horse that was not used to being stalled at night. He played and chewed on it nonstop. The horse stalled next to him (and perhaps all stalled in that barn of 12) got little rest from the swinging ball that hit the stall wall all night and could be heard from some distance from the barn. Taz consumed this ball in less than a week.He adjusted well to being stalled. Still buy them for him.
I am always looking for a snack/treat product for my horses. Over the years I have discovered that all these treat things I've bought disappear very quickly with my horses eating them so fast but I was very pleasantly surprised with these hanging ball treats. I've had mine hanging in the barn for going on 3 weeks now and the horses still try to take a bite. I'm thinking they will last about a month. I usually give them the lick it twirly things but they only last a couple days and honestly they look like they could hurt the horses teeth the way they go crazy over eating them. FYI my horses are not ever stalled so they can come and go whenever they please. I'm sure if they was stuck in a stall all day the hanging balls would not last quite as long. I hope you try them I think you will find it's more for your money since the horses have to lick them instead of biting them like the lick it rolls
My horse is laid up and this kept him entertained for a week or so before he ate his way through it. Much better than the shape of a lick-it and probably would have been even more effective if I hadn't had it hung against the wall!
My mare was stuck on stall rest after we had to cut an abscess out of her flank and this kept her quiet in her stall, even with the other horses running around in fields. It was worth every penny!
This was my 6th purchase of this treat and my horse still loves it. I initially hung it in the middle of the stall, but my mare got bored because it was too much effort for her to keep licking on it. So I moved it to against the wall (but not in the corner). Now it gives her just enough challenge to entertain her for hours. Each ball lasts about 10 days for us this way.
