I had an older model which served me well until it died. I really bought this one because it is rechargeable, the older model used the batteries pretty fast. I like this model better as it is easier to clean and easy to use. Only had it a week so time will tell but so far loving it. I did buy a 3 year plan for $6. I will find out how good that is if I ever have to use it, or if I wasted my money.
I've used it enough to charge it a 2nd time--the initial time was a looong charge and the 2nd took over 12 hours and then I unplugged it. The only help in knowing when it needs charging is the motor slows, and I think it's fully charged when the green light on the cord stays green without flashing. The water 'piking' seems a little less powerful than the other flosser brand I had. I'm actually still getting used to this particular flosser.
This is my first waterpik of any kind, so I suppose they are all kind of messy. You have to let water run out of your mouth along the way. It has a pretty good sized water reservoir. And the 2 different picks are nice. I started with the less powerful and now use the more powerful. My mouth does feel cleaner after using.
The water chamber tank is extremely difficult to piece together to battery handle. A tool is required. In addition a puddle of water remains and gets trapped creating a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus to grow. The tip stopped squirting in less than a month. Product returned. Engineering poor.
This model of Water Pik is a good value for the money and meets my needs when I'm traveling. I would not use it full time at home because it has a limited water reservoir capacity and there is no way to adjust the speed of the water jet. It holds a charge for a few weeks for me but it takes a very long time to recharge the unit. All in all, I'm satisfied with this version as a secondary unit for travel.
