Had to get this as gasahol had slowly ruined my old Poulon trimmer. I have two torn shoulders and arthritis and appreciate that this trimmer weighs half what my old one did. Easy to start. Just set to full choke, pump the bulb up a few times, give it a couple pulls. Then go to half choke and pull again. Starts right up. Will take partial throttle right away. Let it run half a minute and you can turn the choke off. Runs perfect, with one pull restarts the rest of the afternoon. We have a third of an acre and lots of old growth and stuff to trim around. When I was done it still had some gas in the tank and some line left over. For a small single line trimmer, it did a great job. Granted, this is based on a couple hours use just this afternoon. But as an old mechanic, I know gas engines well. This one is a peach and a nice bargain to boot. Relacement spool is cheap (I got one right away in case it gets "discontinued" in a couple years. I've been through that run around before.) Takes .065 line that is only $3.50 per hundred feet. Good economy there. Cleared hundreds of feet of chain link fencing, all around the home & garage and gardens too. Side walks, pavers and walkways. More too. We'd let it go way too long after the old one started leaking fuel from the carb. Took some work to make up for that. Bottom line, very impressed.

A lot of negative reviews but, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Easy to snap together, easy to start and easy to use. Lightweight and starts right up, no problems.

Before I bought this unit, I viewed 37 reviews (good and bad). Of particular interest was the person that said " only follow the instructions until you get to the point of going to " half choke " to start the engine then, stop right there and starting using the unit. This may be good for some units that may have slight carburetor off=sets or something. (DAY ONE): However (maybe I was just lucky) I followed the instructions to the " T " even knowing what this person had suggested. Everything went fine so, I stepped out my garage and began to weedeat. After about 5 minutes or so, I decided that I needed more cutting line and tapped the head down on the lawn and the engine died. That was my ignorance because it tells you in the instructions to keep the engine at full throttle when doing this but, I had missed that part and had let the engine go to idle. After realizing my mistake, everything went just fine and I finished my front and back yards (except for edging the driveway, patio and around my 24' above ground swimming pool) with very little line usage and one tank of gas. (DAY TWO): Again, followed instruction to the " T " and finished the driveway, patio and pool area. Maybe I have been lucky but, I would definitely recommend this unit and believe me, the price in unbeatable. The only CON for me is that I am 5' 10" and, as others have said, the shaft is a little short and doesn't telescope and my back does get tired rather quickly. Finally, the gas mixture is 40:1 (which is 3.2 ounces of oil to one gallon of gas) and the oil comes with the unit.

This thing dies frequently and is sometimes very hard to restart. The choke setting only works on the middle (out of three) setting (sorry I forget the setting names) which is also the only one that will allow this thing to run. I've read reviews that say I can adjust this but why should I have to? It should work as advertised right out of the box and I've only had it a couple of weeks. My husband dislikes this trimmer and has difficulty starting it too. On the plus side, it's very easy to use once it is running and I can even use right and left handed without any loss of functionality. It's light enough to not cause extreme fatigue. I would prefer it were a bit longer so the stress on my lower back was less. Overall, if I were making a purchase of a gas powered string trimmer, I'd go with different model or brand.
