This is the wost printer I have ever bought. It is expensive, the ink is expensive and after one year and less than 4000 copies the quality of the prints have degraded, Bought a new maintenance kit, didn't fix the problem. Lost a lot of money a most of all a lot of time with this heavy machine.
I'm on my fourth machine of this model type Xerox printer (including its predecessor, the Phaser 8560 series). I've been very happy with the print quality. However, you can expect to only get about 3 years out of these machines, at which point its simply cheaper to buy a new machine rather than get it repaired. (It actually costs more to repair than to replace this thing.) The ink is pricey for this model, so I considered getting the ColorQube 8870 (which is a LOT more expensive). However, the only difference between the ColorQube 8870 and the ColorQube 8570 from what I've been able to ascertain is that the print heads of the 8870 model have been modified to accept the lower priced ink. Since the gears on these things wear out and limit the lifespan to ONLY about 3 years, I wouldn't even consider the ColorQube 8870. However, as long as you understand these printers are disposable, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the ColorQube 8570. For average monthly runs of about 2000 to 4,000 prints, the 8570 performs quite well. If you require 3,000 or more prints per month; then this machine will probably not meet your expectations.
What more could I want than a printer that does the job. A few little frustrating things like the tray 1 feed, switching to tray 2when it runs out and staying on tray 2 when 1 is refilled... and the way that i magles envelopes with its sinding paper path ... but... it does the job.
Printed off 300 double sided fliers shortly after ordering the Colorcube 8570. Little fearful that my new printer would be up the job. It exceeded expectations. Takes a bit to warm up for the first job of the day, but once the wax is warm it is good to go. Love the color, but especially love that there is far less waste going to the landfill in cartridges, even if there are recycling depots.
This printer is easy to use and maintain. The print quality is pretty good, but not as good as I was expecting. I have learned that the ink does not last near as long as they say. If you are printing any type of graphics, it goes through the ink fast!! And the little wax cubes are not cheap. The other issue I have with this printer is that on some types of paper, the "ink" can be easily scratched off. Not cool when you are printing marketing materials. You know they will not look their best by the time they reach your client. The front paper feeds are great and allow for easy printing of various types of paper (thickness and size). Overall, I would recommend this printer, but as with all printers, you have to take the good with the bad!
