I bought this pen and it writes nice. I'm going to use it for school. It has a decent weight to it, but the ink flows kind of choppy sometimes.
I use the pen for adding thin outlines and it's really easy for that but try to use it for anything else and it disappoints
I was looking for a better quality ballpen to sign some papers a few times a week and Zebra F-402 surprised me with how well it writes and how comfortable it feels in hand. The weight is perfect and well balanced. It looks good too. Overall I'm very pleased with this product. I'll use it with pleasure as often as I can.
I had this pen for over 2 years. Became emotionally attached. Bought refills. Didn't even buy it, found it laying in the mud and never stopped using it until it snapped in half in my hand. Worked in below 0°F temps, on wet paper, and pretty much any surface I put it to. It never once failed to write until the cartridge was empty. Bring back 0.5mm please.
After over 10 years in the government I became a pen snob. By far my favorite is the Z-mulsion LX 1.0mm which is no longer available. The F-402 with a 1.0mm refill is close. The weight and textural feel is the same even though it is slightly shorter. I use rite-in-the-rain paper so can't use gel pens. Gel (water based ink) won't stick to waterproof paper. No other ink writes as smooth as the z-mulsion on any paper type. One advantage of the F-402 is that the oil based ink doesn't smear on the waterproof paper like the z-mulsion will. I have an F-701 but it feels like I'm writing with a screwdriver rather than a fine instrument.
