The true story of Helen Keller, an Alabama girl rendered blind and deaf as a baby after an elevated fever. Having no way to communicate, she has devolved into a near-feral state. Annie Sullivan, a nearly-blind woman is hired by Helen's overly protective parents to teach her sign language. After "taming" Helen enough to have contact, she miraculously teaches her the sign for "water," and becomes her lifelong teacher and companion.
