A scorching 1983 set recorded in Helsinki, Finland, LIVE: TEAR IT UP is the best of the several live Stray Cats CDs which appeared in the '90s. Playing in front of a vocally partisan crowd, guitarist Brian Setzer, bassist Slim Jim Phantom, and drummer Lee Rocker burn through a 75-minute set like they're being chased. Session pro Mel Collins adds King Curtis-style sax to a few songs, and the group's spiritual mentor, Dave Edmunds, joins them for a spirited run through "The Race Is On." Elsewhere, the UK-specific "Rockabilly Rules OK?" and the band's underappreciated debut single "Runaway Boys" are particular highlights. All of the hits are here as well, in versions that range from game to stunning.
