Once upon a time, in a kingdom beneath the sea, there lived a beautiful princess named Ariel. Her father, King Triton, forbade her to have anything to do with humans, but the headstrong princess was fascinated by people and their lives on land. One night Ariel saw a handsome prince aboard a passing ship and fell hopelessly in love. She rescued the prince from a sudden storm and sang to him as he awakened from a deep and exhausted sleep. Ariel wanted only to be with her prince, Eric. In desperation, she made a cruel bargain with Ursula, the sea Witch.
