Heat Moisture Exchange Unit (HME) for CPAP Machines

Human Design Medical (HDM) has come up with this unique Heat Moisture Exchange Unit for CPAP machines to provide enough moisture that is required during CPAP therapy. The unit gets attached to a simple mask elbow so that heat and moisture can easily be derived from the users’ exhaled breath. The same moisture is then used to moisten the air for users’ inhalation to prevent dryness and irritation. The HME is an innovative alternative to those traditional, bulky water based humidifiers. They make really great companions during travel where the heated humidifiers cannot get AC power. This HME is designed to be universally compatible with any APAP, CPAP, or BiPAP machines. The fact that the Z1 and HME are manufactured by HDM, they make a perfect fit. These HME filters are really easy to install and do not require re-calibration on most of the CPAP machines. It is as easy as attaching the HME between the CPAP tubing and the mask. Then on turning on the machine, you experience a steady flow of therapy air. Storing & Replacing HMEs When not in use, the heat/moisture exchangers must be stored in a plastic bag that has air-tight sealing like Ziplock bags as otherwise the equipment will collect moisture as well as humidity if exposed to air. It is recommended that the HMEs are changed once a week or whenever the humidification levels seem to be dropping.
