Some of the most richly textured and colorful plants in the succulent world are aloes, which range in size from small enough for your coffee mug all the way up to “herculean” tree forms. Star Aloe is an Aloe-rich galaxy developed exclusively by Altman Plants that is populated by star-shaped, primarily small live succulents that delight with engaging textures, patterns, and colors. They make enchanting houseplants, handling low-light nooks with aplomb and turning up the visual heat when placed in bright spaces such as on or a near south-facing windowsill. These hybrid aloes were chosen in part because they possess the kind of natural flair that transforms indoor spaces. They’re the result of careful and passionate research and breeding, derived from species that were combined to gather the best characteristics of each into one showy result. The plants’ parentage hails from aloes native to places such as South Africa, Madagascar, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Ethiopia. Size varies, but generally under 12 inches tall and wide. Plant in well-draining soil. Water when soil is dry to the touch. Provide part sun to bright, indirect light. Flower times vary. Hardy to Zone 10/35 degrees F.
