The stations wouldn't stay programmed after manual power off. The GPS only worked through the phone, not on screen, showing errors with available satellites. Annoying notifications appeared randomly after driving 8 miles with no apparent cause. After trying to fix settings, I reverted to the factory stereo.
In my experience, I've had two Boss products over the years, both of which failed after about a year. I find them to be unreliable and prefer my Pioneer product, which has lasted 15 years and still works perfectly. The Pioneer is easier to use and offers superior sound quality compared to the Boss products.
I purchased a Boss Audio System with navigation that advertised Steering Wheel Control (SWC) built in. However, after buying the necessary Steering Wheel Control Interface, I found that the SWC logo did not appear on my screen as advertised, unlike my dad's identical system. Even after swapping radios, the issue persisted. I am confused as to why the SWC feature is missing on my unit.
I purchased this double din audio system as a gift for my father. He installed it on his old truck and it looks fantastic. The screen is large and easy to install, and the Bluetooth connectivity is quick. The camera quality is surprisingly good for the price. The audio quality is decent, with customizable EQ options. The screen brightness is adequate but can be challenging to see in bright sunlight. The GPS is sometimes inaccurate, but functional. The touch sensor may be unresponsive at times, especially at the edges. Connection drops during video calls are possible, but audio quickly resumes. Overall, this system is a good choice for older cars on a budget, like my dad's 2008 Chevy. For a bit more money, consider Boss audio systems with better build quality and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
The new Boss system I installed in my motorhome replaced the old CD/cassette player. I am impressed with the system, especially the backup camera which helps eliminate blind spots. I can even use the camera to monitor my car hauler while on the road. Overall, a nice purchase that has worked well for me.
