Oh my gosh... I can't even put into words how much my kids are loving this little robot, Mr. Botley as they call him, and they are learning so much in such a short time. I have been trying to incorporate more STEM products into our homeschool and this was so cute I wanted to give it a try. I am so glad I was able to get this. My youngest, who is 4, was the most excited but my older special needs son, who is 15, was a bit more reserved at first as he wasn't too sure about a robot that actually talks and moves. After watching everyone else he decided to join in the fun and now he won't stop asking for the robot. The kids have been having a blast trying out different maze configurations and different sequences to use with 'Mr. Botley' and they are constantly thinking up new ideas to try. This is such an easy item to use and set up but it also provides enough challenges for them which keeps them interested. Botley definitely encourages them to use their critical thinking skills and helps encourage creativity. Not to mention that they are all working together to come up with different courses and sequences so they aren't fighting. 'Mr. Botley' has certainly helped to make our lives more interesting!
3 out of 5 of my kids are loving Botley! My 2, 5, and 9 year olds are having fun trying and testing him out. My 5 year old needs directions to do specific things but he's also good at just figuring things out himself. We are enjoying Botley and my kids are eager to find out what else Botley can do.
My 5 year old son is very much into robots as well as STEAM! I'm always looking for the next best thing when it comes to toys for him. He's not into a lot of toys. He will play with them for a day or so and they will go in a corner. Although it's been the exact opposite with Botley! He rushes home every day after school to see what new he can do with Botley! It definitely keeps his attention! I love the robot! It's so cute!
I must say that Botley the coding robot is a wonderful little screenfree STEM toy that my kids have fell in love with. Its a fun and complete package filled with a variety of cones, blocks, as well as arms for Botley and cards. However I found the manual to be printed in tiny fonts which made it difficult for all of us to read with ease and carry out the fun little tasks mentioned in it. I find Botley to be a great way to assist kids to learn beginning coding, cultivating natural aptitude for problem solving and encourage creativity. I would highly recommend this to my family and friends.
Botley The Coding Robot - my kids were enthralled from the moment they saw the box! I was very impressed with the packaging. The front of the box features a velcro flap that allows the kids to see Botley even before you open it. Botley comes with 77 pieces total that includes detachable robot arms (my kids' favorite feature), coding cards, obstacle building pieces, and double-sided puzzle tiles. Botley says "Hi" when you turn him on, and makes really cute robot beeping noises as he follows your coding commands. As a family, we got familiar with Botley for about 15 minutes before my 6 year old wanted to try coding on his own. It was his first coding experience, and to see the excitement in his face when he succeeded in having Botley knock down blocks was so rewarding. As my kids played with Botley, I could see them displaying cognitive thinking through trial and error and collaboration. My only complaint is that the puzzle tiles did not fit tightly together. Botley became "confused" when one of the black line tiles shifted slightly. Other than that, I very highly recommend Botley as a fun way to introduce your little ones to the basics of coding. And from a mama's perspective, I LOVE that this little robot brought us together on a Friday evening instead of being huddled around the TV! Our family from ages 2 to 40 give Botley two big thumbs up!
