Detailed product description

The McDonnell Douglas MD-80 is a family of twin-engine, short- to medium-range, single-aisle commercial jet airliners. The MD-80 series were lengthened and updated from the DC-9. The airliner family can seat from 130 up to 172 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. The series was introduced into commercial service in October 1980 with Swissair. This specific model is painted in the Trans World Airlines (TWA) paint scheme. TWA was an American airline that existed from 1925 until it was bought out by and merged with American Airlines in 2001. This handcrafted model is painstakingly molded from pressure cast composite resin by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail and makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.
