Detailed product description

This charming pair of Charleston Dancers are kicking up their heels and having the time of their lives at a jazz-age dance competition. Created by English artist Anne Harriet Fish (1890-1964) who had pages of her art in Vogue, The Tattler and for eight years over two pages of her illustrations appeared in issues of Vanity Fair. Fish specialized in cosmopolitan scenes, Art Deco-style and in this case was influenced by the 1920's popular dance - said to have originated in Charleston, South Carolina - and by the new French fashions and Flapper style. The Charleston Dancers originated as a doorstop, and our cast iron version serves as functional art while giving literary support to your favorite novels. Hand-crafted in heavyweight foundry cast iron exclusively for Design Toscano then hand painted and distressed just enough to replicate a true antique. "All dolled up" with bobbed hair, swinging red dress and a dapper slim suit, this dancing pair is the "bee's knees," and will dance their way onto any library. 5½"Wx1½"Dx9"H. 3 lbs.

Quality foundry cast iron collectible crafted using age old techniques Each piece is individually hand-finished by our artisans Exclusive to the Design Toscano brand and perfect for your home or garden
