This high quality, intermediate level, Dragon Olympic Class Sailboat model is fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). This model sailboat requires some easy semi-assembly you will need to raise up the mast, unfurl the sails and adjust the rigging. The rigging attaches with hooks (no knot tying). This Dragon Class sailboat model was specially designed & built by the plank on frame method (joining multiple small pieces of wood together on the hull). The hull topsides have a distressed antiqued finish and the bottom is painted a distressed French white. Fittings are handmade of brass. The cloth sails are hand stitched and detailed with batten pockets. The Dragon boat model comes complete with a stand. The International Dragon is a one-design keel boat for two to four people with a total mass of 285 kg. The Dragon was designed by Johan Anker in 1929. In 1948 the Dragon became an Olympic Class, a status it retained until the Munich Olympics in 1972. The Dragon's long keel and elegant metre-boat lines remain unchanged, but today Dragons are constructed using the latest technology to make the boat durable and easy to maintain.
