Disc one, ABSOLUTELY THE BEST, contains the band's chart singles, including "Tin Soldier," "Itchycoo Park," and "Lazy Sunday," along with B-sides from these singles (which often match the A-sides in quality). The second disc, titled ODDS AND MODS, features the Small Faces at their most experimental. Here the drums/guitar/bass/Hammond organ line-up is expanded to feature woodwinds, odd percussion, Mellotrons, and all manner of studio effects, including tape loops, phasing, and heavy echo. Both discs are a welcome introduction to one of the era's finest, and provide a comprehensive sampling of the band at the elastic peak of their powers.
