Jamey Aebersold: Jazz - Anyone Can Improvise [DVD]

This bit of European sexploitation with a Nazi accent has been given a no-frills presentation on this DVD edition. Helltrain (aka Train Special pour SS, Love Train for the SS and Hitler's Last Train) has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, presumably pan-and-scanned from its original widescreen format. The print used for this transfer is not in especially good condition; there are plenty of splices, a number of noticeable scratches throughout, and the color is often muddy and mottled, and while the transfer itself doesn't seem to be the source of these flaws, it doesn't look as if anything was done to clean up the image, either. The audio, dubbed into English, has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo, retaining the original monophonic sound mix. The sound quality is serviceable, but little more, and the dialogue is sometimes hard to understand in the early part of the film. No bonus materials or multiple language options are included in this edition, and only committed fans of European sex films of the Seventies will feel the need to own this.
