Recommended Enclosure Size: A small school of these fish (up to 6) can be kept in aquariums as small as ten gallons. Schools of greater than 6 should be housed in 20 gallons or larger. Given the activity level of this fish, the more room you can give them, the better. Temperature: Glowlight danios do not require high temperatures to thrive. They can tolerate temperatures as low as 60 degrees and as high as 80. Ideal range would be 68-78 degrees fahrenheit. This means in most cases they do not need a heater. pH/Hardness: Glowlight danios can adapt to a wide range of pH, anywhere from 6.0-8.0. Size: At the time of sale, Glowlight danios will be at least 0.5.” They max out at about 1” in size. Age: At the time of purchase, Glowlight danios will be at least 3 months of age. This fish can live for 2-3 years, sometimes more with proper care. Feeding: Glowlight danios are not shy eaters and will take most any food that will fit in their mouth. They are mostly insectivores, and will appreciate the addition of live white worms, daphnia, or brine shrimp. A good flake food is a must for their main diet. Color/Pattern: The coloration and pattern on Glowlight danios is part of their appeal. They have an overall golden/green base color with blue bars and orange streaks. Their color really pops under the right lighting and with the right backdrop. This gives them a “glowing” appearance. Social Behavior: Glowlight danios are a schooling species, best maintained in groups of 6 or more. They are peaceful towards each other and go well with other similarly sized community fish. They can also make great dithers for some species of dwarf cichlids.
