Detailed product description
MANUFACTURED by JSP® The worlds largest producer of precious metal testing solutions. FREE SHIPPING no hazardous surcharges 1/2 LITER (16.9oz) Concentrated Nitric Acid HNO3 67% Reagent Grade • FULL STRENGTH - BETTER VALUE This is the best strength for gold refining. • IDEAL FOR GOLD, SILVER, & OTHER PRECIOUS METALS REFINING • Brand New Sealed - • Patented Polymer, Acid-Resistant, DOT-Approved Break-proof Safety Bottle SHIPPED IN SAFE AND LEGAL PACKAGING IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL D.O.T. AND STATE LAWS AND CARRIER REQUIREMENTS. THESE ARE NOT ORDINARY HDPE BOTTLES, WHICH BREAK DOWN IN CONTACT WITH CONCENTRATED NITRIC ACID! • Our new patented, acid-resistant polymer bottles are SAFE . Glass is DANGEROUS. • Leakage in transit is now almost IMPOSSIBLE with these new bottles • A full bottle can be dropped from 14 feet directly onto concrete, and it won't break, crack, or leak. Try that with glass! • Non reactive polymer won't leach heavy metals into the acid. • Polymer bottles themselves cost more but COST FAR LESS TO PACKAGE • Ordinary HDPE is NOT DOT-approved because it is unsuitable and unsafe for concentrated nitric acid. Common HDPE turns yellow, becomes brittle, and can leak or break without warning. HANDLING & SAFETY • Nitric Acid is an extremely strong acid and oxidizer. An oxidizer contributes oxygen to reactions, which can result in fire or explosion. Nitric Acid reacts vigorously or violently with water and many flammable materials, including organic solvents, bases, reducing agents, metals and metal compounds. • AVOID INHALATION: Nitric Acid fumes are irritating to the throat and lungs. Do not inhale fumes. Inhalation of highly concentrated vapor must be reported immediately. Delaying treatment can result in pulmonary edema and death. Do not open indoors except under a fume hood. Use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) at all times when working with Nitric Acid. • HANDLE WITH CARE: Use extreme care when pouring Nitric Acid to avoid splashes or spills. Have an abundant water supply available to dilute spills. Cover open containers of Nitric Acid with a cap, plug, or watch glass to avoid fumes. Work under a fume hood when working with Nitric Acid. Replace cap immediately to avoid spills. When diluting concentrated acids like Nitric Acid, always add the acid to water slowly. DO NOT ADD WATER TO CONCENTRATED ACID. • AVOID SKIN CONTACT: Nitric Acid can severely burn the eyes and skin. Wear protective gloves resistant to Nitric Acid. Wear an impervious apron or smock and long sleeves. • USE EYE PROTECTION: Wear eye protection, such as polyethylene goggles and a polyethylene face shield to protect from splashing. • STORAGE: Store Nitric Acid in the original container. Dilute solutions must be stored in acid-resistant bottles, such as borosilicate bottles with Teflon caps. Polyethylene (PTFE, LDPE) and even HDPE are unsuitable for storing Nitric Acid. DO NOT store Nitric Acid near incompatible materials. These include acetic, chromic, and hydrocyanic acids, acetone, aniline, carbon, hydrogen sulfide, flammable materials, readily nitrated substances, organic solvents, bases, reducing agents, & metals and metal compounds. Store Nitric Acid in its own storage cabinet near floor level when possible. Otherwise, Nitric Acid may be stored with other inorganic acids if segregated from other acids in a secondary containment vessel, such as a plastic bin, tub, or tote. Storage Temperature: < 75ºF. • DISPOSAL & SPILLS: This material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste. If less than a few milliliters of concentrated acid or a few hundred milliliters of dilute acid is spilled, the spill can be neutralized by adding soda ash or sodium bicarbonate and rinsing profusely with water. If the spill is large (i.e., greater than 1 liter of concentrated acid, or more than you have materials to handle), immediately evacuate the laboratory, close the doors, and promptly call 9-1-1.
