After being damaged in a Borg attack, the EnterpriseTM docks in Earth's orbit for repairs. Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), still recovering from injuries inflicted by the Borg, returns for the first time in twenty years to the French village where he grew up. However, his older brother Robert (Jeremy Kemp) feels deep-seated jealousy and resentment toward Picard and greets him with contempt. Back on the Enterprise, Worf's human parents pay him an unexpected visit. Feeling disgraced because of a Klingon ritual shaming, Worf has difficulty facing them until Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) provides insight. On Earth, Picard receives an offer to head a scientific project and seriously considers leaving Starfleet to take the job. His brother sees this as an opportunity to undermine Picard's facade of perfection. Will Picard be able to face the truth about himself that only his older brother understands?.
