At the Remmler Array, the Enterprise is evacuated in order to conduct a baryon decontamination sweep. While the senior officers attend a reception at Arkaria Base on the planet below, Picard (Patrick Stewart) finds an excuse to return to the ship where he is captured by a band of rogue technicians. Meanwhile, on Arkaria, the station administrator (Glenn Morshower) leads a coup and the senior officers are taken hostage. While Riker and company devise a plan to subdue their captors, Picard learns that the technicians are planning to steal the ship's highly volatile trilithium resin. Now he must find a way to stop them while simultaneously avoiding the deadly ray of the baryon sweep.
