As in the days of old - we still harvest our ripened cane to the sweetest state of maturity. The cane is then ground and the juice extracted. The sweet juice is then cooked to perfection in open kettles. When it's just the right clarity and consistency, we call it Steen's 100% Pure Cane Syrup Delicious on Pancakes, Waffles, Biscuits, Cornbread, Fritters, Hot French Bread Hot Rolls, French Toast.Unit Size: 90ozIngredients: Sugarcane JuiceSteen's Gingerbread1/2 Cup Shortening1/2 Cup Sugar2 Egg, beaten2 1/2 Cups sifted all-purpose flour1 1/2 Tsps Baking Powder1/2 Tsp Soda1/2 Tsp Salt1 Tsp Ginger1 Tsp Cinnamon1/4 Tsp Cloves1 Cup Steen's Syrup1 Cup Boiling waterCream the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, then the previously sifted dry ingredients, alternately with the Steen's Syrup and water. Beat enough to mix thoroughly (add 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired) and then pour into a well greased 121/2 X 8 X 2-inch pan and bake at 350 F for 40 to 45 minutes.
