All of TCP's CFL's listed below have undergone rigorous testing as required by the ENERGY STAR 4.0 program. In order for a CFL to earn the ENERGY STAR it must pass various photometric, electronic, life performance and packaging tests. New to the ENERGY STAR 4.0 specification are requirements such as committing to manufacture CFL's with no more that 5mg of mercury in lamps less than 25 watts and 6mg of mercury in lamps 25 watts up to 40 watts. Additionally, reflector lamps intended for indoor qualification must pass elevated temperature lumen maintenance testing, similiar to life in a recessed can, a typical application for reflector lamps. In order to assure that customers are receiving color consistent lamps, all ENERGY STAR qualified lamps must be designated by a specific color temperature. The lamps designated as a specific color temperature (2700K, 3500K, etc) must fall within a 7-step ANSI MacAdam ellipse for that color temperature. Product packaging must tell a true story to the consumer. The packaging of an ENERGY STAR qualified CFL must list numerous components and features of the lamp and be supported with test data.
