The first film ever to win an Academy Award for Best Picture, "Wings" is the story of two men who have gone to war and the girl they both leave behind. Director Wellman makes one of his most humanistic statements as he explores the devastating results of war. Clara Bow (the popular Twenties "It" girl) shines with vitality in contrast to the rigid, staid Richard Arlen, and "Buddy" Rogers, his youthful, naove counterpart. A cameo by Gary Cooper is portentous of his ascent to stardom. The aerial battle sequences which abound throughout the film still rank among the best in motion picture history. This special home video release includes a digitally recorded score, composed and performed by Gaylord Carter at the console of the Sargent/Stark Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ in Hollywood, California.
