0010467701525. New condition. CD. This unusual CD features The Jazz at the Movies Band (a large rhythm section led by pianist Bill Cunliffe) and some welcome guest soloists (Gary Foster on alto, tenor and flute, tenor great Ernie Watts and Rickey Woodard also on tenor) along with what sounds like a real string section (although it might be synthesizers) performing a dozen romantic movie themes originating from the early '70s through the mid-'90s. The melodies are given very respectful treatment which means that the jazz content of the set is not too high. Watts makes four appearances and Woodard two but it is Gary Foster (particularly on his Getzian tenor) who is the most impressive voice on this interesting but not essential release. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
