Easy to work
Very soft and lush!
The Pioneer Woman Heathered Velvet Light Blue Yarn is beautiful. Worked very well for my needs and the weight of this yarn was wonderful. Nice and soft.
This yarn is SO soft! I should have seen that coming since it's labeled as velvet! It was a little hard to knit with at first because it's so thick and hard to see what I'm grabbing, but I got used to it. It works well and is extremely soft!
I am very excited about getting this yarn and finally learning how to crochet! I've never been able to pick it up from reading instructions (even with illustrations) and everyone who has tried to show me in the past was right-handed (I am not) - I just couldn't seem to catch on. But now there are very helpful videos available online specifically for left-handed beginners, so I am ready to try again. A good friend who crochets a lot told me this thicker, bulkier yarn is great for beginners because of using a bigger hook, not to mention that it would take less time to finish a project. She said the bigger hook is easy to work with (because of the size of the stitches), easier to count the individual stitches, and easier to tell if a mistake has been made (before continuing much farther). I haven't started anything yet, but she sent me a file with a simple scarf pattern that I can do with the yarn I have (it's intended for teaching a child to crochet so that sounds appropriate for me!) This yarn is super soft and velvety-feeling (it is 100% polyester, machine washable in cold water, dry flat) and the white/bright blue heathered color is gorgeous, perfect for something wintery but not specifically “holiday-themed” so wearable during all cold weather. It is 77.6 yards, 10.5 ounces with a crochet gauge of 8 stitches & 7 rows (knitting gauge is 7 stitches & 14 rows), and with an N (10mm) needle recommended (crochet and knit). Printed inside the wrapper is a pattern for crocheting a 50”x60” throw (which requires 12 skeins). Lastly, if I still don't get the hang of using a hook, I found an easy-to-follow video online for finger crocheting left-handed for beginners. This is going to be fun.
