Just received the chrome version today. I brought it into my studio to try it out plugged into a guitar amp, for that vintage Harmonica vibe I was looking for. It rocked! It may not be a Hugh end SHURE or the like, but it was really good sounding. Virtually no noise. I also tried it for vocals and was surprised how cool it sounded. Very 'Black Keys' vintage sounding. We will be using this mic for a music video, and it will be perfect. For a molded plastic mic with a plastic chromium finish it's cool looking and seems fairly durable. So if you want a good super inexpensive retro mic...This is a good choice.
I like this thing, but I knew it wasn't gonna be used very much. For using it sparingly , when there's not a loud band supporting you , it works well. However , it IS prone to feedback so if you aren't aware of wade you place it en relationship to speakers/acoustic drums, there will be issues. Besides that, I like the red color, and the on/off switch works well; there's only a faint pop when engaged on.The tone is decent and is fun to play with. I got mine for around $30 and I'm happy
I was looking for a retro microphone prop for videos and found more than I was looking for. I bought the black classic retro microphone, and it's actually a fully functional microphone. While it's suited for performances, I still use it as a prop. The stand is separate, which is also sold by Pyle, and together, they are the perfect prop/microphone combination. The cable is pretty long--15 feet--and the assembly is easy. If you want to buy the same set on Amazon, Ebay, or online in general, it'll cost way more and look cheaper. Trust me, I looked, and this was the set I didn't know I needed.
I got it for a Halloween prop but finally got a chance to use it at karaoke last night, I gave it 3 stars because the sound was very good but the volume had to be turned all the way up on the mixing board to hear it. Also, it only works if you sing into the very bottom of it, no other spots work on it.
If this thing gets a signal it is worth $24! Yea, it's plastic, but the black one looks awesome! Plus it comes with a cable.Edit: I attached this to my mic stand, connected it to my behringer keyboard amp/practice pa and it sounds as good as any other mic I've used(including Shure, nady, Samson). The black looks really cool. I'm no snob about brand name or workmanship...I care that it looks cool and sounds good. This mic does both. I even like that it is plastic because there is less chance for interference.
