I made this purchase so I could make Mom homemade biscuits and gravy. she doesn't like sausage so I did not add any sausage to it
It was ok tasted good with the consistency but the flavor was different tasted more like the Italian sausage that comes in pizza and I am not a big fan of that flavor but that's just me. Like I said still delicious.
The flavor profile is horrible. Thank goodness I tasted it before pouring it over the biscuits. It tastes like licorice. Not like a mild fennel sausage flavor. Gross sweet artificial licorice. Think Mike %26 Ike gravy. So gross.
I've tried this particular packaged gravy several times. It's easy to prepare and comes out pretty creamy. For a thicker gravy you just need to cook it a little bit longer and let it sit for a few minutes after you remove it from the stovetop. The sausage flavor is mild and not too strong. It goes well with biscuits or to add a little flavor.
while this is a sausage gravy, the sausage flavor is so overly strong that its seems unnatural. obviously this doesnt have real sausage in it and just uses sausage flavoring, but it is overbearing. we used this for biscuits and gravy, and couldnt taste much of anything besides the strong sausage flavoring.
