I use the drift mic alongside with this adapter and my gopro hero 6 black. So far so good BUT... each time you turn your gopro off, you MUST disconnect and reconnect the battery and the microphone (a soft reset) otherwise you will completely use audio.
My hero6 has latest software updates and just wont run external mic whatever I try. This and the crappy connectivity issues and bugs makes me want to dump the whole lot in the bin and buy a china cam for a fraction of the price. Gopro is all hype and just a massive headache.
just looking at the reviews for this product. Why are goPro still asleep... Wake the f up GoPro, smell the coffee, fans are about to jump ship. Sony is opening the door for your customers , sorry ex customers.... Shocking price for a crappy product....
I can't understand why this adapter is so large? Its larger than the camera which is mind-boggling considering that the adapter provides only a handful of small purposes. I am a motorcyclist, so having this extra "Thing" attached to my helmet, that I constantly have to plug in and unplug, is kind of a pain. This reason is why I gave this item a 3 star. It does its job well but it could be better. I expected better from GoPro. While you are at it, create an adapter that allows Sena Bluetooth users to record audio from other users. Similar to what the GoPro 4's had with the Sena audio pack. I have a 6 and the content I capture would be so much better if the camera could hear the other people involved.
Discovering this is required for external audio such as a lapel mic in motorbike helmet means I won't be buying Hero5 or Hero6. Competitor Yi include an adapter with the camera. If this were included free it's still a ridiculous bulky thing with no obvious way to hold it in place without stressing the connection. It doesn't even deserve one star, it should be minus 5 stars as I won't buy the camera let alone this garbage to weigh down one side of it. The solution is probably bluetooth based but gopro will no doubt have their own weird system which costs half as much as the camera.
