So, I was about to head out for a 3-week expedition to the Rocky Mountains of camping and hiking and was looking for a pair of high quality hiking shoes, after looking on craigslist and other high end hiking stores, I couldn't come up with anything. So, a few days before the trip, I found these on sale. I tried them on and they fit and I was off. My family and I ventured from Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, and finally Badlands. I guess I walked in pretty harsh terrain for about 5 to 6 hours everyday. I was expecting the worst but the shoes held up fine. I had to wear them a little lose and you have to have hiking socks. But other than that, probably compares to a high end shoe without the price
I've worn these boots (mine are Putty, not Putty II) as work shoes (in an office) consistently 4 days per week from fall 2006 til now, as well as being motorcycle boots. Only in the last couple months have holes appeared in the outer edges of the bend point in the shoe where the shoes bends at the ball of your foot. The tread has also mostly worn down to almost flat rubber. Considering I got 3+ years out of a $26 pair of boots, you can't get much more ROI than that. I would have bought a replacement pair of Putty IIs tonight except the Walmart I stopped at was out of size 12s.
I'm also an over 60 hiker and put about four miles a day on my boots. I normally put gel pads in my new boots but these are so comfortable that I won't need to. I've been wearing these boots for about a month and they are doing just fine. I wish they came with thinsulate so I could wear them in the winter too. They're still a very good bargain for summer boots.
I recnently puchased these boots for the sole purpose of getting dirty. I attended the Beale St. Music Festival(BSMF) and on que, God blessed us with one soggy weekend. It only takes about 3 hours of rain to turn Tom Lee Park into 750 yards of pig paradise, this, was 3 days worth. I did not have great expectations for these boots, but to my surprise, they were the key factor between having a great time or being completely miserable. By Sunday evening, after standing in the ankle-deep mud for approximately 35 hours, I could not believe the way these boots held up. My feet were dry, warm and comfy. They did rub a little on my left big toe, but you'll have that. While my top half was soaked to the bone, it dawned on me...I was wearing a $100 Columbia rain coat, and $28 WalMart boots, and there wasn't an oz of water or mud on my feet. $28 "whatever" boots from WalMart.....Priceless
Bought 2 (two!!) Pairs for Under $50.Really Great Boots and a Incredible Deal.Truly Waterproof.Really Warm and Comfortable and Great Ankle Support.I'm Tough on Boots, but these Lasted a Long Time.As Good or Better than the High-End Name Brand Hikers at a Fraction of the Price.
