Great Value Pure Sugar, 5 Lb

On more than one occasion, while pouring the sugar into my sealed sugar container, I have found contaminates in the Great Value 5 lb. package of sugar. Most recently (July / 2014) when I found (2) large sugar coated pieces (1/2" long) of what appeared to be rat feces (not kidding). There were no holes in the package so I must assume that this was contaminated at the packaging plant. I will stick with name brand products from now on.

I had no problem with product and bag was not torn. My problem is the ad says 5 lbs. and I got 4 lbs....20% less than advertised, which of course makes it more expensive for what you get. This seems to be the way with so many companies. They lower the volumn and keep the price at the same level.

I ordered 10 bags of sugar among other items, 8 of the bags were open and spilled all inside the box. So in all i got to keep 2 whole bags that managed to stay shut and about two more bags i sifted through. Ants and pieces of the box were all in the opened sugar. I order all the time from online and have never had a problem, you would think they would come up with a better way to ship the sugar after so many have had the same problem.

This is typical sugar (like any other brand) but better value for the amount and price.
