Although this is a boy bike my daughter picked it out and loves it. It is very difficult to find an attractive well built 18" bike for a mature vertically challenged child. My daughter is 8 and we have the seat set at the lowest possible setting. The price of this bike at other stores is over $100. The service in the stores bike department was incredible, like an actual bike shop. We went to two Walmart stores. The first store the sales person warned us that sometimes it's hard for the shorter children to reach the hand brakes on the 20" BMX style bikes (my daughter wasn't with us). I took my daughter to get sized at the second store and the bike mechanic came out and made adjustments to the 20" bike to see if it could work. In the end they were honest that she just wasn't tall enough for the bike. That is when we saw this bike. My daughter learned to ride without training wheels on this bike. There are some great tips on helping a child learn how to ride a bike without training wheels online at REI. I will repost if it doesn't hold up but it appears to be very well built.

The packaging was very poor. The bike was bent out of shape so we were not able to assemble it. We needed to take the bike into a Walmart location and purchase a different one. Very inconvenient way to shop. Next time I will just go into the store. My son was bummed out to wait the entire week only to receive a broken product in the mail.

Order site to store and asked the bike department to put it together which they did for free...when I picked it up it needed a brake adjustment and the bike tech was great...only been using it for 3 days but my son loves it and it seems well made...got and returned a similar bike last week from toysrus that was more $ and had one cheap plastic hand brake that did not work..scary since my son rides his bike to school! Feel very confident with THIS bike as it has the pedal and hand brakes...big plus for us.

This bike is a nice next step up for my son. He has always struggled with regular pedal brakes, so the handle brakes were a big selling point for me.

Bought this bike for my 7 year old who would take it to bed with him if allowed. He uses this bike all over the neighborhood (bike trails, sidewalks, street) and truly enjoys it. Right size and gives him room to grow with this bike, I suspect this will be his bike for another 2 to 3 years easy.
