20" High Velocity Floor Fan

TERRIBLE FAN. I'M ON MY SECOND ONE AND HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT'S SQUEEKING AND OVER HEATING. WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THATS IT. IT WORKED GREAT B4 THE PROBLEMS. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS FAN TO ANYONE!

You see, for some reason, I have to sleep with a fan running. Winter, summer, fall, spring..no matter the weather. I have a old box fan that is now obsolete that died on me. I got this to replace my fan thinking the air current wouldn't be too much for a bedroom. It is! When they say industrial, that's exactly what you get. other than waking every morning with a stuffy nose, this fan is perfect. I wouldn't recommend it for a bedroom, though. It's pretty noisy but tolerable to me (continuous humming helps me sleep). So the good points - you get your money's worth. It cools instantly. Everything being metallic gives it durability. Bad points- other than the loud humming, none.

This fan moves a LOT of air, but it is so noisy we aren't going to use it when we are home. We will only use it when it is hot outside. We only have AC on the ground floor, and will use this fan to move cooler air upstairs while we are gone. But even on low speed it makes so much noise we can't talk in the same room without yelling. I wonder what it would be like on high speed.

I bought this yesterday. The fact that it has metal blades comes in handy. What I did to reduce noise was bend the blades. I took a pair of channel lock pliers and bent the trailing edge of the blade at the existing crease it a little more. I bent it at the base, the middle, and the tip. It reduced the speed of the motor, but still pushes about the same amount of air. Don't bend them too much or it'll put too much load on the motor, which will overheat.

This fan is so powerful, I have to hold on, so it does not blow me out the window ! seriously: it is so hot in my trailer this week, I can't believe it. this fan is cooling the place better than a small window air conditioner. I have it tilted toward the ceiling like the instructions say...It works !!
