I bought this a few weeks ago. I love the large loads. I have done 2 queen size blankets at the same time. In a different load I washed 4 standard sized pillows and some random white t shirts. I was a bit skeptical of having a washer without an agitator because I have heard stories from others that their clothes don't get clean, but I really wanted a large washer and prefer a top loader. I had read reviews of dozens of machines and after reading the consumer reports on this model I set my sights on this one and have no regrets. Best standard warranty in the business, one of the largest capacities possible, super quiet and an excellent wash.
Teo months after we bought the washer and dryers, my washer died on us!! We contact LG and worse customer service ever, the lady told my husband the what we did and maybe was our fouled and after we explained she told us the expected for repair men,!stayed home and he cancel the appointment. He re schedule for three days later and he came checked the washer and told my son the mother load wasn't working and he will request the parts!!! This happened on the 19th of December and we decided after Two weeks the see when they coming to fix the washer!! The lady at the repair place told us the on the same day they contact LG letting them know about the part!! And the lady told us the part was not longer available and she send the report to LG and we never got any call or email from the LG company!!! Now two weeks later and still waiting for LG to decide if they can approve the replacement of our washer!! Pay lot money and died two months after we bought it!!! Please get other kind this people aren't professional and they make you feel like is your foul
I own this washer for a month and overall I am pleased with the quality and performance. It is huge, quiet, it offers many cycles including the soaking, it allows customization of the cycle by features like Water Plus (add more water for better performance) and Extra Rinse (to remove any detergent residue from the clothes). I also like that it tells exactly how long the cycle will take. The only washing issue I had was with dawn pillows, apparently they become so heavy that the washed struggles with the spin speed and stops, but still this is towards the end of the rinse phase, it washed them well. My issues with the washer are as follows: 1). The washer's outside water drain hose is VERY short. It created a problem with installation as the Home Depot phone team could not recommend the correct extension and the washer's drain hose was too short to make the washer operational. Phone reps had no clue, LG phone reps the same. I had already signed the paper that I accepted the washer and I was left completely on my own. The service on both Home Depot and LG was awful as they did not know how to solve the short drain hose issue. My husband went to home depot and bought 8 ft EVERBILT Corrugated Washing Machine Discharge Hose. Then he fixed the issue. Why neither Home Depot nor LG could recommend that is beyond me. They should encounter this issue often. Needless to say a professional plumber will charge heftily for solving this problem. 2). The manual on arrival is too short. You have to go online and download a complete one with valuable advice. 3). WiFi function was very difficult to set up. The signal in the basement was not strong enough, so we got a booster. Only after configuring it it turned out that the washed WiFi only accepts 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band but not the modern 5 GHz. We had to reconfigure the booster. Then the setup is still very convoluted with having to enter a meaningless password, etc. We had to do the Google search and find a YouTube customer film on how to do it. LG manual does not give all these details. After all was set and the WiFi connection between the washer and the app was established, it was still not clear how to start the WiFi, you have to press and hold the Remote Start button for some time after starting the washer and choosing the cycle. It took a housewife and two men in the house to make it all work. I don't know how a regular housewife can surmount these issues and complications. Overall this WiFi function is good but very difficult to set up. When the WiFi feature is set up, it gives updates on your phone regarding the cycle, via the installed ThinQ app. 4). The stainless steel tub is nice but the plastic trays for the detergent and softener and their holder look cheap and it's hard to remove/insert them back without fear of breaking them. They do not impress as durable. However you have to take them out so that the washer can dry before the next use, per instructions. Given these pros and cons, I highly recommend to research the product suitability, especially the drain hose length issue. If it's insufficient for your home, a plumber services could be an additional expense. And if you plan to rely on using the WiFi function, be prepared for considerable difficulty in setting it up.
I purchased the WT7900HBA from Home Depot brand new. Along with the DLEX7900BE. The drum of the WT7900 had an orange discoloration that looked like rust. The delivery guy hurriedly put it on a wash cycle and said it would clean out. The stain didn't clean and after the cycle finished I inspected it more closely. It emanates from where the bottom and sides of the drum are attached. The worst of it is down in the crevices around the edges. I ran a self clean cycle with white vinegar. There was no improvement. Now listen, this is all understandable. Things happen. However LG's customer service was horrible. First they didn't want to replace the washer. They wanted to service it. Which is not likely to fix rust in the drum. Then when Home Depot finally talked them into replacing the darn washer LG scheduled the removal and replacement with me over the phone, but LG didn't actually schedule with Home Depot Home Delivery. So after spending a couple thousand dollars I am sitting here with no clean clothes and no way to even go buy a new washer dryer and have this old one removed. I have a weird job, I work out of the country and I am only home and gone sporadically and with very little notice. Of course LG wouldn't rush the removal of the old unit and replacement. So essentially I can't return the old unit to make space for the new unit. At any rate now I am forced to find a buddy to help me move this crummy washer and the dryer I have never even had a chance to turn on and go to a local scratch and dent and try to find a washer and dryer to buy for my new house because, I need one today, before I go out of the country for work Saturday for a couple weeks. I guess I will have to store the items waiting for LG to return in a guest room or something. It's been 2 weeks already. I am so frustrated that I am actually making an on line review. You know I must be frustrated to go to that level of commitment. I am not convinced that LG is upholding the standard Consumer Reports has granted them. Buyer beware. And definitely beware of their customer service.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is honestly the first "high-end" washer that I've ever owned and I'm LOVING it. It makes doing laundry a breeze because there are so many different types of wash cycles and the machine senses the load size so I never have to select a multitude of settings manually. It's also high-efficiency so it's saving on electricity and it's remarkably quiet. One thing that I especially love is the tub size--it's huge compared to the washer that I previously owned and what would have once been considered a "large" load in my last washer now only fills about half of the tub in this one! Another kind of fun thing about it is that the lid has a clear window in it and there's something almost mesmerizing about being able to actually see my laundry being done (my inner child gets a kick out of this). Although not a necessary feature, the machine is also compatible with a downloadable app which allows one to control the wash cycles remotely from a cell phone and it's even possible to have LG help troubleshoot the machine through the app if necessary. Long story short, I'm really happy with the machine so far and it's making me wish that I'd upgraded sooner.
