DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!! I usually NEVER write reviews but this dishwasher has frustrated me so much that I had to!! We have had to call someone to fix it more than 5 times and it is still broken!! By far, the worst purchase I have ever made and I would not recommend Café appliances to anyone! Learn from my mistake please and buy something more reliable!
Looks gorgeous but is ineffective. have only had my dishwasher for less than 3 years and it's already having issues, starting yesterday it is just not washing dishes, and I've read everything online i can about this problem and I've cleaned all the filters and put in cleaning tablets and it's just not spinning and the jets don't work.
DO NOT BUY! I think this model is defective as we've had multiple units with the same issue (and the installer mentioned this as well). It leaks past the gasket and causes significant condensation on surrounding countertop and cabinetry to the point that it has damaged our cabinetry in our brand new house! We had many people come and try to repair our first unit over several months without success and then I requested a new unit which has the same problem! This time I've asked for a refund from GE and they said this is never possible! GE said they could send someone to try to fix it. I asked GE if it's the same issue as last time that they were not able to fix over several visits and months (not to mention the repair men also caused damage to our cabinetry), how do they think they will be able to repair it this time? GE ignores the logic and says this is what they can offer. We do not want to repeat the inconvenient months-long process of someone trying to fix it which was unsuccessful last time. We haven't had a functional unit for 6 months and now we are stuck and will buy a different unit from a different company and we will just have to swallow the cost. For a “high end” very expensive dishwasher, I expected much more. I am extremely disappointed and will never buy from GE again.
I'd like to be able to give this dishwasher 5 stars, but their are important issues that keep me from doing so. The good... - High end looks. Really looks great. - Cleans and dries well. - Quiet. It is unlikely this dishwasher would ever disrupt anybody or cause noise issues. - Front display is nice. Gives you wash and dry status with words. Better than just a light. The not so good.... - Right out of the box there were broken parts. The upper rack was hanging on one slide, the other slide was not engaged. Because of this, the wash arm was broken off the mount on the rack. It was an easy enough fix, but this is not acceptable. Also, pieces of semi-rigid insulation from the bottom of the dishwasher were on the pallet upon opening the box. Also, the sound insulation blanket was ripped. The box had no damage, so it did not occur in shipping. If I had to guess, I would think the unit was dropped after attaching to the pallet, causing the insulation pieces to break off and the upper rack to fall off the slide. - There is no way this unit will fit, with the rubber trim mounted to the perimeter of the dishwasher, in a standard 24in wide opening. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY. Also, installing the insulation as instructed is not possible in the standard width opening either. - The routing instructions for the drain does not match the depiction showing the side of the unit with the drain line. This is confusing and you are left to guess what to do. - The unit does leak steam from the upper seal of the dishwasher when drying. Also, the bottom steam vent does leak a small amount of water every time the dishwasher runs. Maybe it is not a leak, but steam condensation. I don't know. I have seen reviews where the response from Cafe is that service will come look at the issue, but I believe there is nothing to be done. I believe this is an engineering issue, not a build quality issue. Whether this becomes a big problem remains to be seen. I don't know if the steam will ruin the adjacent cabinets. It is particularly annoying to have water on my wood floor. I now put a small tray underneath the steam vent when I run the dishwasher. - The leg levelers need to allow for more vertical adjustment. I have a much larger gap beneath the countertop and have adjusted the levelers to raise the unit as high as it can go. - I also have the small particles of residue on the inside of the dishwasher door where the upper wash tray touches the door when closed. For the top of the line dishwasher from the Cafe brand, these types of issues are not acceptable.
Looks good leaks like a civ. I bought this dishwasher over a year ago and have had 7+ service calls, and more than one dishwasher that leaks steam during the drying cycle which is damaging my cabinets. Over a year later and the issue still isn't resolved.
