[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An excellent, extremely fast drive on my laptop used for limited purposes on my laptop and one of my servers. 4TB isn't massive and I also have a several tens of TB on mechanical USB drives for both systems but the Samsung T9 really shines when booting virtual machines versus a mechanical drive. They are typically small enough that I can have tens of virtual machines on a Samsung T9 4TB and boot times are a few seconds rather than several minutes. The portability of being able to take the pre-built virtual machines to another host system is a bonus, as the Samsung T9 fits in one hand. I have three 4TB T9s as well as two slower (but still very fast) 4TB T7s. All make a good platform for solutions that don't require vast storage but benefit from very fast storage. One of the T7's is the primary storage for a RPi4 system. All my other Samsung SSDs are storage used for virtual machine disk images, rather than my document files for example. I can stand a few seconds to open a document but a Windows or linux virtual machine that takes a few minutes to boot from a mechanical disk is annoying and the Samsung T9 reduces those times to a few seconds for me.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When building my computer years ago, I made the mistake of not having my OS drive large enough. I got this portable drive originally for videos, but I also have it set up for taking some of the load off the C drive. It has been reliable and fast after a couple of years being used in this way.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product requires a heat sink. Nowhere in the instruxctions or packaging does it mention anything about needing a heat sink. Expensive mistake on my part. I bought a replacement and installed with the Artic heat sink and iv had no issues at all great load speeds.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is by far the cream of the crop when it comes to SSD! Everything I own is Samsung as in a big fan of their products. This ssd is extremely fast. I was able to move around about 500gb worth of files in seconds. It's the fastest and best SSD I've ever owned and I will not ever go to another brand again.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Compact design, very fast memory, fingerprint security is essential!!!! Samsung really nailed external storage with fingerprint security. Improvement suggestions: 1) stronger two-factor authentification security. Fingerprint causes pop up on phone to match fingerprint. 2) even smaller design. I think two terabyte is The Sweet spot, the size of a thumb drive with fingerprint would be nice 3) automatic backup from AND to phone. I should be able to partition a secure portion of the drive for automatic phone backup. Every time I plug in the phone it should only transfer new files and newer revisions of the same files not an entire transfer.
