Love the smaller display size of the S version, makes the watch feel closer in size to apple watch which I previously used. Also great battery life compared to apple watch. Removed one star based on increased price for solar version however even in 40 degree C heat, with over an hour direct sunlight exposure, the battery life did not improve a single percent so unsure what the point of the solar is. The band also has signs of wear over the past 7 months. Definitely prefer stats to apple more accurate GPS and like sleek design
I had a Garmin Forerunner 245 Music that stopped working and I upgraded to this watch. WOW! What an amazing watch. All of the features of my Forerunner PLUS Solar Charging which I LOVE and need for hiking and camping! Daily use with only texting and calls turned on (turned off other apps) so my battery lasts three weeks! It's winter so haven't been able to solar charge much but it did work while snowshoeing this weekend.
I got this beauty when my Apple Watch bit the dust after many coworkers used them. I'm a army medic & paramedic so I needed something durable, with long battery life and multiple sport options. I love can add maps that suit your needs and downloadable watch faces to suit your style. The 7S fits my small wrist without the watch face being massive (I'm 5' & 110lbs) and is really comfortable. I love that I can charge the battery once a week (could go longer if I didn't have all the features turned on) or go off solar or various battery saving modes. The only thing I would change is the screen can be hard to read, especially if your bwxk light won't turn on automatically with wrist movement. I also miss being able to do voice to txt, reply to txt and found some features not easy to find/use compared to apple. But once you get the hang of it, this watch is amazing!!! Absolutely worth the $$, however unless in direct sunlight can save yourself some money and go without the solar option as I didn't find it that useful when I'm in the forest doing survival training.
The watch itself is quite attractive but I was not prepared for it to be as bulky or heavy as it is in person since retail locations only have dummy watches. a slightly smalller, thinner version would make a huge difference. The battery makes a big difference in comfort. After a couple nights, I was forced to buy a third party band to make it comfortable enough to wear, particularly at night. It is disappointing that there are so few band options available that can work with this model. I like the buttons, because they make it difficult to accidentally turn the light on and therefore it is good for situations where it could be distracting, but I also found memorizing what they all do to be more effort than I have energy for right now, so I mostly just use 2 and need to watch videos any time I want to make it do something new. At the moment, I use very few of the features. I bought it not for athletics but to track energy levels in regard to chronic illness. I hope to some day use it for hiking, swimming and travel. I am disappointed that it will only track a single sleep session per day, since I often sleep in shifts or require long naps to recover. It would be nice if this additional sleep, which is often better than what I get at night was included in the sleep metrics.
The battery life is phenomenal, the ability to run with GPS as a guide while in an activity and still be able to charge your watch while doing the activity is amazing. I have run marathons and have never been concerned to run out of battery, which my other friends are envious about. After a 4 hour trail run with GPS guidance I still had 72% battery left. As a slow aging runner this is important to me. Thank you Garmin
