Samsung Brightside - 3G feature phone - microSD slot - LCD display - 240 x 320 pixels - rear camera 3.2 MP - Verizon - metallic black

I like the phone, it's not an iphone 5, but who really needs all that in a phone anyways. I use it to play music in the bathroom, it has good sound. I've dropped it a couple times with no damage, I take videos every now & then, send pictures to family, save files to print. Text works great. I like that it charges through usb to my desktop.

I got this Phone with a new plan. This phone randomly dials while sitting on the counter while charging. (It's fun when the Police bang on your door at 3 am because your phone dialed 911 on it's own.) You are unable to answer a call without the phone disconnecting it as the touch screen is so sensitive it receives a signal through a leather belt holster that came with the phone. When messaging the phone regularly types the message into the send to side so your recipient gets a blank text. Ear speaker too quiet even with volume at maximum, and the proximity sensor is weak so your cheek touching the screen ends the call. This phone is too thin so it is difficult for large hands to hold. There seems to be no way to increase all font sizes. The camera zoom does not work. You cannot zoom in on pictures taken. Just if there were a phone that only would call and text, that would make me happy.

I've used the same Samsung cell phone for about 6 years and loved it, but decided it was time to upgrade. I'm so glad I until now or I'd not have had the choice of the Brightside since it's so new to the market. I wanted a Basic Phone and most phones in that category were in every sense of the word "basic". I wanted a QWERTY slide out keyboard, touch screen, good camera etc., and this fulfilled all I wanted and more. As with any change it takes a while to learn all the features, but I'm plugging away.

I've had this phone for a couple of months now. So far it is mostly what I expected. I wasn't ready to graduate to a smart phone but I wanted a pull out keyboard and a phone that I could get email alerts on as well as check on FB posts. So far I've been happy with it. It does have a few unfortunate quirks though. 1. The phone blacks out while listening to voicemail messages so if you have to press #1, for instance, to listen to messages you have to move your finger over the phone to bring it to the screen again and you have to find the keypad button to bring that up and press one, all before the phone times out for your message. 2. When you want to attach a picture to a text you can't do it from the pictures/video section. Even though I can select the picture and even though there is an option to send, it can't be done on my phone. Nothing happens when I hit send. I have to go to my text messaging option then attach the picture. 3. The touch screen is super sensitive and I used to accidentally dial a favorite contact. I fixed this by giving each contact an option for call or text, so it can't automatically dial anyone now. Other than that it's a good phone for the price.

I bought 3 of these phones and on all 3 of them the calendar and alert function does not work correctly. when an appt is added to the calendar it will save as a different date thus not alerting you with a reminder. Samsung and Verizon both know this feature is not working correctly on this model of phone, they have known since March but no new software to fix THIS issue has been released. There was some software for this phone released in May but it was nothing that fixed this defect in the phone.
