I am a newbie to the combi. I have used it three times and each time my meals turned out great. The first time was chicken breast and it always scares me when cooking chicken but I cook by temp not time. The second time was pasta and I was shocked, it was great. I finished up with the last meal being a full breakfast with biscuits. I look forward to more and really want you to know this is a great machine and you should give it a try.
I just received this three days ago so this is premature for a detailed review. I used it to make chicken yesterday and it turned out pretty good, but I think I should have cooked it a bit longer - but still good. I will say the quality looks outstanding, which isn't surprising as I have three other Ninja appliances. I'll also say the directions were a bit vague. They have a LOT of recipes for combination meals which makes sense due to the name, but just basic things are a bit ambiguous such as simply toasting rolls or buns, and unfortunately as this is such a new product there is VERY little online about it so far. I'll update this as I use it more.
Combi arrived last Saturday and already made pasta with Italian sweet sausage, rice with Chinese chicken fried rice , toast is perfect, boxed cake so easy and came out moist and fluffy. Cleaning is a breeze..1 cup water in combi pan and set timer for 10 minutes with combi meals side on steam. Close door and 20 minutes later it's like cleaning the inside if a microwave oven, just wipe down and it's spotless inside! A true winner..just ask Ninja like I did to please put out a Ninja vombi ultra steam cookbook and in it how to break down the recipies in half for 2 people.
I bought this item this past week and the inside is really small I prefer the ninja speedi over the ninja combi 1. It's really small or compact and I wouldn't be able to stir or chop hamburger for spaghetti if I had something on the top rack and the height could had been made taller and not worth the price and is just a remodel person of the speedi
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you're like me and you're not a huge fan of reading numerous pages of instructions, this might not be for you. I found the appliance to be a little overwhelming, since it has so many different functions. I decided to start with a few basic things, like using it as an air fryer for fries, making toast, cooking pizza, or wings. The results were satisfying for all of them, but I did have to make some slight time adjustments in some cases. In other words, hopefully you know how to cook and bake and you are comfortable changing temperatures and time, if necessary, as the instructions are not 100% reliable. I wanted to make scalloped potatoes (following the recipe in the booklet), but I did not have any meat to go with them, so I couldn't use the Combi function. I decided to use the Bake function instead, but that meant the whole story changed. I followed the recommended temperature, as I thought that would be appropriate for an oven as well, but after the 20 minutes passed, my potatoes were not cooked and needed more liquid. I added some milk and mixed them through and cooked for another 20 minutes. Now that's twice as long as they supposedly would take using the Combi setting, but about as much as it takes to make them in a regular oven. All the cheese had sunk to the bottom of the pan and turned into a crispy crust, which is not at all what happens in a regular oven. You get nice alternating layers of potatoes and cheese. But whatever, the food was good, so we ate it. Now what I can't figure out is how to cook other combi meals, other than the ones in the booklet. If I make scalloped potatoes with chicken instead of meatloaf, do I still use the same temperature? Do I change the temperature based on the chicken cooking instructions? Would that affect the potato cooking process? You know what I'm saying? These recipes are customized for the 2 or 3 meals included, but if you change the meals, how do you figure out the right temperature? Maybe I am missing something here. I love the fact that it has a sous-vide function, as sous-vide appliances can be quite pricey. I will try it out soon and hopefully I won't ruin a perfect steak. I also love the fact that you can bake without heating up the whole kitchen, which is an issue in summer. Now as far as the accessories go, all I could find about them was the fact that they are non-stick. I don't know if they are Teflon, if they contain PFAs and since the box does not say PFA-free, I am guessing it's not, so 1 star for this. I have been trying to switch to safer materials, so baking and cooking in Teflon is something I want to avoid. I think the appliance is trying to do a little too much and I would probably use most of the functions, except for Combi meals. I love Ninja products, but so far this is not my favorite one.
