Well, with a capless gas tank, this item is needed as a regular funnel won't open the tank for additives or otherwise. It was inexpensive, and worked perfectly!

If you have a car with a cap less fuel tank you should have one of these. One came with my car but it is packed away with my spair tire and hard to get at. A regular funnel will not open the filler door on your gas tank.
