I purchased 3 of these in June. I had purchased quite a few of these years earlier, however one got broken by movers. Each package comes with dowels saturated with glue, finishing nails and the shelf supports. The wood dowels are activated by placing in water, this is a very welcome change from what I had to do years ago. However make sure the finished sides are lined up properly or else after tapping the glue coated pegs into place you will not be able to get it apart to correct your mistake. I will be using these to keep the different colors of card stock organized that I use in rubber stamping.
The materials used seems to be of good quality, but putting together the organizer is a mess. They give you BLUE pegs to hold the top/bottom and sides together and you have to dip the pegs into water first. As you are hammering the pegs in, the blue starts to bleed all over the organizer. There really needs to be a better way to know how deep the pegs needs to go in. Just like the other review, since I did not put the pegs in deep enough, it busted several holes on the top of the organizer as I was putting on the top. I used folded towels between the hammer and the board so it would ruin the outside, but instead, it got ruined from the inside then out. They need to put a mark on the pegs half way and change the pegs to the normal brown pegs. A complete waste of my money.
The instructions are bare minimum, literally just enough to say they gave instructions. The diagram is very easy to read, and that's really the only reason I didn't throw it out the window. There needs to be a few specific details explained. For example how deep to put the pegs into the vertical pieces. It leaves you guessing and if you don't pound them in far enough, it will ruin the top and bottom pieces when you try to install them. The pegs busted through the top and bottom pieces because I had no idea how far to put the pegs in. And even with putting thick cloth over the boards when hammering, it still destroyed the edges. The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of one is because it's not impossible to put together and it's still functional. But it looks super trashy and junky now that it's all busted up. It's a shame because this thing has potential with better instructions.
It worked for me and fit the spot. Shelves are thin and do come out with the papers when you remove them. I don't mind because my items aren't moved that much . I'm also pleased with with how I've arranged them and will probably glue them down. Instructions were fine for me because I'm used to assembling products. May be somewhat unclear for those who aren't. Bit pricey for what it is but it meets my needs and was delivered to my door.
The mailbox will serve its purpose in my classroom, but the assembly didn't turn out well. The wooden dowels were too long and ended up poking through the top panel and ruined the top. I can set something on top of it to cover it up, but it is disappointing that the particle board top was so weak that the wooded dowels could push right through during assembly. For the price I paid, I expected more.
