this is a great product for the money. so far it has found every place I have put in it and I never get lost anylonger. I also bought one for my son as he is a remodeling builder and has to find many streets and he has found them all with no problem. Great product and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for one.

surfed the web pre-xmas,found the tomtom one bundle@ $168!puchased 4 as gifts to family members.the wal-mart bundle was actually found only at walmart,wal-mart gave our family a very very good xmas gift.THANK-YOU Wal Mart!!i now have used this at work, locating addresses,with-out using the old thomas guide.However,..don't throw out your thomas guide, there are some streets that existed for the past 3-4 years that tomtom one has yet to recognize!And,.. I have updated my tomtom at home weekly via the computer.is tomtom one 3rd ed.perfect?NO,& Neither am I.the tomtom one 3rd ed. is perfect for the beginner, just don't forget to bring your AAA maps to cross reference for a back-up!last but not least, went to a local ski resort,Sierra Summit,in california, unfortunately tomtom one didn't have this in it 3-5 million points of interest.i've found out,all these gps units are like your local telephone book,...if you are a business & you are asked by these gps manufacturers if you are interested in "advertising" w/them you have to pay to get on board!!!!being a former boy scout of america, always be prepared!oh,yeah,...Wal Mart is in there points of interest, big time!!!!

I purchased this for my husband, who is an over the road trucker. He keeps calling me telling me all the cool things it does. He says it's the best present he's ever gotten. He often has directions to get to his drop point, but they usually fail to tell him whether to turn right or left when necessary. The TomTom GPS unit has all that info, stating it outloud. It's awesome, and now I want one!

It wasn't as "plug in and go" as I thought it would be. Compared to the Garmin, Tom Tom is a much better value. TomTom is also smaller and weighs less than Garmin. TomTom came with a carrying case, Garmin charges extra. Dashmount was less than expected. The Garmin dashmount was much more secure.

I haven't been able to use this device to its full extent yet, but it has worked brilliantly each time I have tested my TomTom out on short trips (all within 20 miles). It never fails to direct me to exactly where I need to go. I am the worst person with directions, hands down, awful. Even with written instructions I still always manage to make a wrong turn or exit nowhere near where I need to be. I am required to make regular trips up to Los Angeles... this is about a two hour drive from where I originally live. I avoided these trips because I knew that there was a 100% chance I would get lost, and getting lost anywhere, let alone Los Angeles was not something I wanted to deal with! At first I was wary about this device not mentioning street names to turn on. This was actually the reason I was turned off to the idea of getting a TomTom and was leaning towards getting a Garmin. By the force of my mother who thought this was a good deal and a reliable device, I did some research, still wasn't sure but eventually gave it a try. I do have to agree with those who say that telling the distance of your turn is actually better. It really isn't necessary to even look at the screen which suprised me! I look anyway because it's a force of habit and me not trusting myself... but I am learning to trust this device.
