Walmart.com was very efficient with the order. So far, with first use, the quality seems good. The tie-down straps are a little cumbersome. It would be nice if holes were included for the use of bungee cords. Overall, happy with the price and quality...
Over the years I have bought quite a number of generic fit covers from more expensive sources. This cover I bought in May of 2010 - Here is my review: In my opinion The Harbormaster Premium Cover from Walmart is the best value out there. In my application I use it for a final mooring cover over my existing snap down covers. I have a 30 year old power boat and it is still good because it is always bone dry inside. This will be starting the 3rd season with this cover and it is holding up well. I expect to get at least 4 seasons or more from this cover which, if you add up the $, is a great value. It is wise to make sure any cover fits semi-tightly. When new, we test fit this cover on the boat on the trailer. To get the best fit we shortened up the sides by cutting off extra material and then we re-sewed the cover so the hold down elastic rides right under the lip of the boat's gunwale which keeps this cover down smoothly allowing rain to drain off easily and the edges hold tightly in the wind. The sewing work is optional and probably took my wife several hours to do. However.... The cover looks custom made for the boat at less than 100 bucks !! Is it the best material available on the market ? No...but it is pretty good. I have never had a generic fit cover come from any source that did not need some adjustments sewing-wise to make it fit smoothly. Custom made or factory-made covers ordered for your model boat are the way to go if you want a no hassle solution...but you will spend a pile more $ for it. If your boat is old like mine you will not find an off the shelf solution. Hope this info helps others.
this is my second one I sold my old boat 5 years ago and I had great use out of it . It keeps the sun off the interior and the weather out. Just bought a new 18 foot bowrider and bought this cover it fits well and I expect years of good use out of it.
In February 2010 I purchased this cover from WalMart. It was put into use in late February and was essentially put up for the summer in July as I was refurbishing the boat and there was no need to cover the bare painted floor. Covered the boat again in October 2010 and when I went to uncover the boat in April 2011 for the continuation of the refurbishment there were 3 of the straps that had basically disintegrated and a hole in the cover mid span in an area where there is no contact. Again this summer the cover was rolled up (dry, VERY DRY, had no rain in my location for 90 days this summer), I had patched the hole with a tent patch kit thinking it must have been something that happened to the cover caused by something not in your control (kids, birds dropping angle iron or maybe extraterrestrials dropping in for a visit). Put the cover back over the boat for an approaching storm last evening when I went to the boat to uncover tonight I found 2 more of the straps shredded and new holes which are obviously caused by fatiguing of the material. This was surprising. A cover that is warranted for 5 years. I am looking around this website for instructions on how to make a warranty claim but no help there......as if I really expected any... This product gave satisfactory service for about one year.....not so good for a supposedly 5 year warrranty....now can't find a way to make a warranty claim..... spend your money on something of value....maybe BLUE tarps.....they last about as long..... Just don't spend it on this product!!
This really is a nice cover for the money. Much heavier than the cheap one, and the strap-based mounting system is great! It's a bit big for my 18' Century bow-rider (stern drive), with the vents in the cover ending up over the sides of the boat, but we found that it will actually fit over the swim platforms, which will protect them nicely, so I'll stick with this size. I'm guessing that the next smaller size would probably be a snug fit on the hull, but would leave the platforms exposed.
