These boots only get three stars because I had to push the gusset forward from its original position to keep it from digging into my upper ankle on the inside left of the left boot. There is also a distinctive squeak while walking coming from the right boot's heel. There is also a very strong chemical smell emanating from the boots themselves ( hopefully this will dissipate over time).
I'm really liking these boots. I have 50+ miles on them and they are very comfortable. No problem wearing these all day. Very good quality. I returned my first pair because of fit and got a half size larger and wide. I'm right on the edge of size and width. New pair fits perfect wearing Merino wool socks with room for my feet to flatten out after a 10+ mile hike. Return process was easy with no hassle.
Great alternative to what we have to wear with our Type III uniform. I use it for EDC and it's holding up great so far. Closest to the condor Jackson boot which disappeared off the planet.
I've owned a pair of Propper 6" Black Series 100s for about 2 years and they are still going strong. On a whim I decided to try these 8" Series 100 Coyote and from the moment I put them on I knew I had made a wise choice. The extra 2" height really adds to ankle stability. After I played with the lacing and got the right tension I was off to the races. The extra insert is helpful for proper fitting but you can also achieve this by loosening up the lacing on one foot over the other for the appropriate tension and fit. I would say that the "Non-Slip" reference for the tread is not correct. They are extremely slick when you first wear them and especially on wet concrete so make sure to scuff them up by sliding them while walking for a bit and they are fine. I actually just bought 2 more pairs to keep one backup brand new and another in my vehicle to always be ready for a spontaneous ruck. A word on fitting - some reviews mention that they do not fit properly. That is all dependent on the wearer. They fit me perfectly even though I have one foot slightly wider than the other. As I noted before just play with the lacing. The trick is to get the right size so that you don't have excessive looseness while allowing for foot swelling while wearing all day.
1st impression was good, but then after extended wear the heal cup ankle issue started. The heal cup is too high or not formed in a good way, rubs bottom of ankle making sore after extended walking . Tried different socks with to see if a heavier padded sock would help. Did not. Will not order these again as they are just not comfortable in the long run.
