Tasco 402 x 60mm Refractor Telescope

I bought this to look at the stars with my 8 year old daughter. She loves rocks and I thought it would be great to encourage her to think big! It was fairly easy to put together, but a lot of parts and not good descriptions as to how to use each item. It was more complicated than I thought it would be to use the different lenses that are included and to find and focus on the item you want to see. However, it did serve its purpose. I thought I would get this inexpensive one to see if we would use it enough to invest in something more sophisticated and I've decided to move to a bigger, stronger, better unit. It was a good investment.

This telescope was a Christmas gift for my 8-year-old granddaughter. Based on the quality and features it has, it will last her for years to come. I was more than just a little pleased in the quality and features we got with it.

I bought this telescope for my son for Christmas. It was a good price and easy to assemble. We were heartbroken when we couldn't view anything out of it. The lens was broken, so we had to send it back for a repacement. Not what a 9 year old wants to hear on Christmas day....

I found this item as a special After Thanksgiving deal and found the price too good to turn down. This is a great product for the beginner and my son was very pleased with it. Since he lives elsewhere we did not have a chance to extensively use it but from what we could tell this product was just what i wanted something to look at not only stars but lightning and other things as well

This is a great telescope at an exceptional price... The only thing is, it is going to take some getting used to. There are different magnifications and what not to get familiar with, so it will definitely take some time. It adjust so you can sit with it or stand. I love that. It also has a tray that holds the magnifications that you aren't using. I found it odd, that it came in a very plain and generic box. There was no advertising of the maker or anything. So that was odd. But it is very attractive...the screws to keep it tight dont seem to keep it as tight as I want...or it might just be me? Not sure yet, but it hasn't posed a problem yet. I haven't seen anything through it yet, as I have not familiarized myself with it, but that will take some time i presume. Also, the book doesnt come with a lot of descriptions on how to do it. So you are pretty much on your own. Hope this helps.
