900x70 Refractor Telescope

Solid mounting and tripod, very good objective lens, smooth focusing. Some minor problems I had to correct. Manufacturer seems responsive. For those who want maximum performance: 1) Light stop in tube too far forward- had to be moved to the rear to allow full use of lens (needs to be 415 mm from lens) otherwise I was using less than 50 mm out of 70 mm 2) locking screw for diagonal tilts assembly, cuts off view on one side- used hose clamp instead of supplied black ring on focussng tube. Do not overtighten!! With these changes, it is a first class 'scope and an amazing bargain! Eyepieces are basic- modest upgrade to coated Kellner types will improve scope.

iOptron manufactures some heavy hitting telescopes. This one is designed for the beginner. Well worth the money. I had an issue where the refractor tube had been damaged in the box. iOptron sent me another without delay and no additional fees. Great company good scope.

Purchased this for Xmas present for my 9yr. old grandson. To say the least I hear he is having a blast with this telescope. He spotted a herd of elk with it and then tried to use his camera and take a picture through the telescope viewer of the elk!! Didn't work out trying to take a picture, but as you see he thought he could get a close up picture just as he saw when he looked through the telescope, his dad had to explain why it wasn't meant to use that way. Great for keeping a 9yr. old busy and entertained.

I did a lot of research on telescopes, comparing specs with other higher priced telescopes. No one came near for the money. Still I was skeptical, but I read some reviews and for the price, you just couldn't top it. It arrived quickly and my 15 year old son was thrilled with it. My husband is also interesting in sky viewing. It's been some great father/son bonding time. My husband is very impressed with the telescope, especially for the money! I don't think you'll be disappointed, we're not!!

This is a REAL telescope, and needs to be adjusted using the nobs. Kids are a bit excited to see, and want to use their hands to push and pull up and make their own adjustments. When the excitement wears off, we will all enjoy the night sky.
