I had knee surgery and needed to find a way to exercise in the future which did not involve high impact on my knees because I apparently am getting old and have arthritis and bone on bone in one place. Eventually I'll need knee replacement and I want to prolong it as long as possible. This piece of equipment gives two options of either biking or elliptical with no impact. I did a lot of research and checked a lot of different types of machines upfront because I wanted something lightweight with a fairly small footprint as far as taking up space. It still weighs about 60 lbs, but it has rollers to move if necessary and is lighter and smaller than almost everything else I looked at. It took a little over an hour to put together. I think the price was excellent for two machines in one and I also got free shipping. My knees were weak when I started and even on lowest tension possible, I still struggled, so it is a workout. The only thing I don't really like is that i do have to wear shoes of some kind to make it go because trying to wear just socks will not let me turn the pedals because there's not enough "grip". The pedals are long and flat so they can be used for either exercise, so it was a little awkward at first to get used to it for the bike portion. Fairly quiet operation and great way to exercise anytime of day or year without braving outside elements.
Item seems to be fairly solidly built and designed well. It definitely isnt what you'd find in the gym, but seems like it will hold up for light home use. The machine and it's pieces were very well packed for it's long ride from China. Instructions were not as clear as they could have been and I was slightly stumbled at first with direction involving pedal axles, but by mostly looking at the pictures, I got through it. Not all of the pieces are marked as to what part number they actually are. The little multi-tool that is included is next to worthless. It would be very helpful to have a few simple hand tools (1/4" socket set) for quicker assembly.
The Body Rider came a few days earlier than stated so I got a jump start on putting it together. The instructions say you need 2 people but I did it myself.I used a book to lift the front up to assemble the front stand piece other than that it went smoothly. All the pieces were there and easy to locate. The only problem I did have was loosening a pre assembled bolt for the pedal which was put on cockeyed. After a bit of struggle and a few words I managed to get it off.Other than that all it assembled quit easily. The seat is adjustable but wish it would go back further. It could be more padded too.It has fluid movement as you pedal .For the money it is a great value.
I had a problem with lining up a part and called customer service. Thr person who helped me stayed on the phone until I said I thought I could figure it out. I did figure it out and emailed her to let her know how much her advise helped me. I had fun putting the rest of the bike together also. I have since used the bike and love it. My feet hit the pedals even when I am sitting on the seat. I am a short person 5'2 so should not be a problem for most people. The seat is adjustable too.
My husband & I were looking for an elliptical machine and we found this instead. I love the fact that it's also a bike. (2 in 1 machine). The only downside is we have to constantly change the seat level to accommodate our heights. We actually have to unscrew and rescrew a knob to adjust the seat. I wish there was a lever instead. Other than that this is great product and the price was just right.
