The Cardassians ruthlessly interrogate Picard (Patrick Stewart) in hopes of learning Federation strategy in case of an attack. Back on the Enterprise, Gul Lemec (John Durbin) informs Captain Jellico (Ronny Cox) and the crew that Picard is being held hostage. Riker (Jonathan Frakes) wants to attempt a rescue, but Jellico refuses and the two clash. Ultimately, Riker is relieved of duty. Fearing a Cardassian invasion, Jellico then orders the Enterprise to Minos Korva to intercept the attacking forces and launch a first strike. As Picard fights for his life in the interrogation chamber, the Enterprise lays mines throughout the sector giving the Federation the upper hand in the battle. But can they save Picard?.
