Star Trek: The Next Generation - Measure Of A Man

The Enterprise stops at a newly established starbase where the ship welcomes aboard Commander Bruce Maddox (Brian Brophy). Maddox stuns the crew when he reveals that he has orders to disassemble Data (Brent Spiner) for scientific study. Data, doubting Maddox's abilities, exercises his only option- he resigns from Starfleet. After Maddox argues that Data is the property of Starfleet, Picard (Patrick Stewart) asks the starbase's Judge Advocate General, Phillipa Louvois (Amanda McBroom), to call a hearing in which Picard will defend Data's personal freedoms. The J.A.G. agrees, but surprises Picard when she reveals the prosecutor the captain will be facing - Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes).
